Spring 2010
We just released our Vintage 2008 Spicerack Syrah "Punchdown" from the Sonoma Coast. This Syrah celebrates what can be done with this Rhone varietal when handled gently and not overburdened with oak. Its site experiences very cool weather patterns and after hand harvesting and hardly sees any new oak in the winery. Grown in the famed "Rodger’s Creek" vineyard, home of David Rameys $60 syrah, it is a special place. The result is spectacular - and at only $25 we challenge you to find a better Sonoma Coast Syrah at this price.
Next to it we have released our 2007 Textbook "Mise en Place" Oakville District Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2007 vintage, well, let’s just say it almost made itself. The weather was so perfect it made our vineyard and cellar work much easier. Fewer problems to solve allowed us to really dial in this robust Cabernet with precision. If you didn’t think the Oakville District makes North America’s best Cabernet, well, we have something to show you! Initial response has been superb, and with neighbors such as Screaming Eagle at $1200/bottle we can see why. Textbook "Oakville" is a modest $49. First-come-first-served.
Pey-Marin Vineyards Tasting Room update – our new tasting room in The Olema Inn in Olema (west Marin County) had a terrific winter and is looking forward to some sunny weather.
