Pey-Marin Vineyards

Susan Pey and I started making wine in chilly western Marin County in 1999 under the Mt. Tamalpais label and later Pey-Marin Vineyards and MARIN WATER labels. Pioneering this new region, the delicious, balanced wines achieved wide critical and commercial success and today Marin has more than a dozen adventurous winemakers crafting delicious wine from Marin-grown grapes. We brought world-class viticultural and winemaking expertise to the region, crafted Marin’s first very dry Riesling (Pey-Marin “The Shell Mound”) and Rose (MARIN WATER) and more. In 2021, after Sue’s passing and more than twenty amazing and fun vintages I decided to shutter Pey-Marin to devote more time to other wine projects in California and France. It’s been an incredible adventure and I hope our family’s modest contribution to the west Marin wine scene helps pave the way for future explorers.

Our aim is to showcase our Marin County vineyards soils and uniquely cool climate attributes by crafting a beautifully balanced Dry Riesling.

Pey-Marin Pinot Noir hails from a twenty-seven year-old, eight acre vineyard located eight miles from Pacific Ocean. The cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean results in a balanced wine with bright acidity and superb flavor.
